Bill Shute is a recently retired Special Agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He served for 28 years in the FBI's Philadelphia Office, working on various criminal and international investigations throughout his career. He is one of the few agents to have received the prestigious FBI Director’s Award twice. While working as a Special Agent, Shute also became known as Coach Shute. He has been coaching soccer for the past 20 years, with experience at all levels—from grassroots to club, college, and semi-professional women’s soccer. Bill Shute possesses extensive knowledge and holds multiple coaching licenses, including a U.S. Soccer National B license, U.S. Youth Soccer National Youth License, US Futsal license, and a US Youth Futsal coaching license.

Coach Shute is known for his passion for coaching and attention to detail. He is also recognized for integrating soccer IQ into his training, helping develop knowledgeable players with strong decision-making skills. Due to his efforts in youth soccer, Shute received the NJ Youth Soccer / Bob McNulty New Jersey Youth Soccer Coach of the Year Award in January 2015. He led the 2002/3 girls team to the club’s first-ever national championship, which is featured in the club’s logo. That team went on to win a second national championship with USYS two years later. His teams have secured multiple state cup championships and nearly every major regional tournament over the past two decades.

Coach Shute’s approach emphasizes that “all the little things matter,” focusing on improving the quality of touch, speed of play, and awareness in every aspect of the game. He insists that all teams he coaches cultivate a family atmosphere and develop synergy both on and off the field, emphasizing respect, caring, and compassion for each player.

He has held various roles, including coaching multiple girls’ teams and running the SJEB FC Summer 4-v-4 League for a decade. He also oversees the College Advisory Program (CAP) for SJEB FC, assisting club soccer players in finding the right college fit. A passionate advocate of futsal for the last 20 years, he has worked to acquire futsal coaching licenses and education. He believes futsal is a vital development tool for his players and credits it with enhancing their speed of play and technical skills.

Since 2023, he has been the head coach of the SJEB FC Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team, the club’s summer semi-pro team primarily composed of Division I athletes. He led them to the Eastern Regional Championship and the WPSL Final Four in Oklahoma in 2023, as well as the WPSL Mid-Atlantic Colonial Division title in 2025. He also served as the assistant coach for two years at Wilmington University’s Division II Women’s Program. During his tenure, the team enjoyed two of its best years in program history, with a combined record of 23-9-5, appearances in the conference tournament both years, and the team’s first NCAA tournament appearance in over a decade.

Bill Shute accomplished all his coaching success while maintaining a demanding career as a law enforcement officer. Despite his achievements in both law enforcement and soccer, he considers the relationships he has built with his players and their families as the most meaningful accomplishment of all.
