DAVID HUGHES - HARCUM COLLEGE MENS WOMENS HEAD COACH

David Hughes has been a member of the SJEB FC Coaching Staff since the Fall of 2020. David currently serves as the 2010 and 2009 ECNL Head Coach whilst also overseeing the SJEB Boys 7 v 7 Program.

A native of Glasgow, Scotland, David graduated with honors from Lancaster University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Coaching and Sport Performance. Coach Hughes also has a strong playing and coaching background in soccer, having played with Carlisle United Football Club and Workington AFC.

Coach Hughes also gained high quality coaching experience after returning to Carlisle United as a Youth Academy coach. Working with high level youth players within an experienced and qualified coaching staff allowed Coach Hughes to develop a coaching skill set that has guided him throughout his career. 

Coach Hughes currently serves as the Head Coach and Director of Soccer at Harcum College, a Nationally Ranked NJCAA Division 1 Soccer Program. Throughout Coach Hughes' tenure, Harcum Mens Soccer Program has achieved two NJCAA East District Championships, a winning National Tournament record and earned two Eastern District Coach of the Year Awards.

Harcum Alumni players have moved on to many quality NCAA programs including; Akron, LMU, Stetson, Albany, Manhattan, Franklin Pierce, Charleston WV & many more. 

Hughes' philosophy includes creating a positive team environment that encourages individual player creativity, expression and development whilst encouraging a quality team based possession and counter attacking approach.
