VanLiew also earned All-American honors in soccer, while being named the NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2011. The only Rutgers-Camden athlete to earn All-American and Academic All-American honors in two different sports, VanLiew also became the first Rutgers-Camden athlete to ever be named NJAC Male Athlete of the Year in 2011-12.

Tim was recognized for capturing back-to-back NCAA Division III national championships in the javelin during the 2012 and 2013 outdoor track & field seasons. At the 2013 NCAA championships, he shattered the Division III record in the javelin event, producing a winning throw of 75.55 meters. He was a A three-time All-American in track & field.
